Star Island was built from Biscayne Bay dredge fill in the early 1920s and is one of several man-made islands strung beside the MacArthur Causeway. Its original plat laid out 34 lots, every one of them on deep water. A single bridge is the only way on or off, and a guard house stands where it begins. Zoning allows one detached estate per lot and nothing else, so you won't find a condo or any multi-unit building on the island.
